CLYSO in Japan: Scaling Data Sovereignty for the AI Era at SusHi Tech Tokyo 2026

Bringing Open Data Sovereignty and the "Linux of Storage" to the APAC Region.

Tokyo, April 2026 – CLYSO is officially on the ground in Japan! This week, our leadership team—CEO Joachim Kraftmayer, CRO Andreas Waechter, and CTO Dan van der Ster—is representing CLYSO at the prestigious SusHi Tech Tokyo 2026 as part of the Startup Germany Pavilion.

Bringing the "Linux of Storage" to the APAC Region

As Japan accelerates its digital transformation, organizations in research, higher education, and the enterprise sector are seeking mature, scalable alternatives to proprietary cloud storage. CLYSO is answering that call with high-performance architectures based on open-source Ceph and S3.

Reflecting on the mission behind this expansion, Joachim Kraftmayer, CEO of CLYSO, stated:

"In an era defined by AI and massive data growth, organizations should not be forced to choose between innovation and data sovereignty. We are bringing our expertise in open-source infrastructure to Japan to ensure that research institutions and enterprises can scale their digital foundations with total independence, predictable costs, and no vendor lock-in. Tokyo is the perfect stage to launch this next chapter."

Strengthening the Global Ecosystem

Our mission in Japan is to provide a true "Private Cloud" experience, enabling organizations to maintain full control over their data destiny while significantly lowering long-term total cost of ownership (TCO). By bridging the gap between European engineering and Japanese innovation, we are helping to build a more resilient, open-source-driven digital future.

Special thanks to the Start2 Group, German Accelerator, Malcolm Lee, and Momoko Amemiya (雨宮百子) for their invaluable support in making this international expansion a reality.
